Larry Sims

Larry Sims is one of the co-founders of the Jazz Interpreters. Born in Detroit, his Grandfather bought his 1st trumpet at age of 12. Sims attended Detroit Public Schools and the Wayne State University - High School Honors Orchestra and Bands, and the International Youth Symphony directed by Matti Holli, Windsor, Ontario. His mentors are international jazz trumpeter, Marcus Belgrave; Motown writer, Barrett Strong; and band leader and arranger, Craig Strain. He is currently a member of Grammy award-winning Sounds of Blackness. Larry was also the co-founder of U.S. Brainstorm, winner of Billboard's Heavy Disco Club category. He has participated in Phillip Brunelle’s VocalEssence – Witness program.
